Quite soulless game deportation1/26/2024 For some reason the fast zombie (Soulless) is on a. On the other hand Pokemon Sword and Shield and Fire Emblem: Engage are two recent games which are particularly soulless - these games pander to nostalgia and take absolutely no risks to the point where it feels like they were simply designed out of contractual obligation rather than any sort of artistic passion (the latter game thoughtlessly copies character archetypes from previous games without any degree of the nuance or complexity that made these archetypes work there). Theyre all Orphic of course, weak in the Sun, harmed by Wood, all that. Which is a shame considering how bizarre and hilarious Quite Soulless was. Now, UNO may seem like a very basic game to choose, but it is truly amazing. I'd say that a game is soulless if there doesn't seem to be any artistic integrity or coherent creative direction in it, and which also feel designed to either pander to nostalgia/fanservice or to chase trends also don't help at all in this regard.įor an example, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were an absolute mess, but it's a game with soul in that you could feel that the developers were eager to try out interesting ideas and to take some risks - and it's just that the game suffered from a rushed development and horribly botched execution. quite unremarkable and not as appealing as his last game. It's too broad and too harsh of an indictment. I think that calling something totally soulless is just not fair to respecting the real and important people who put their hard work and time into making any game a reality. No matter what perceived quality / lack of quality the product has to the player, the end user, the purchaser, etc. I dont believe my game is AAA+, its indie quest, I would say. and I am currently looking for game journalists to send them the review copies, so they might publish review. Commercial art has always been quite soulless. Why bother paying for this shit when you can just generate it yourself for free. I guess really blatant cashgrabs and microtransaction laden whale-traps are probably the closest I'd say to 'soulless', but as long as there are human people working on a game, I don't think it can really be called any such thing so readily, even something made for cynical reasons can and almost certainly will have at least some people behind it putting in their best effort and bringing craftsmanship and care to their part in its production. I guess one could say something made without any care, but how do you know that for sure, and how do you even quantify it? A lot of care can be put into something that's not good, or just doesn't come out right, it doesn't mean people behind it didn't at least try their best, even if other factors were working against them. I think the vast majority of the time it's weird, if not kind of disrespectful and unfair, to call just about any game soulless.
